LFW Street Style

Fashion week is known to bring out everyones personal style, from the outrageous to the understated. While some spend hours deciding what to wear and others look effortlessly stylish whatever they wear, style can be subjective.

Throughout the week I saw a variety of different styles, each suited to the wearer but it does make you wonder, do people dress like this everyday or is fashion week an excuse to dress up and get creative?

Check out some of my street style shots from the week and let me know what you think! What would you wear?

LFW Ashley Isham SS15 12.09.14

Photographs: Jaz Sangha

Isham’s signature strong tailoring and draping are prevalent throughout his latest SS15 collection, shown at Fashion Scout. Known for his great ability to combine high-octane glamour with contemporary style, Isham used the legendary courtesan Mata Hari as his inspiration, drawing on her half Indonesian and half Dutch heritage.

Isham presents an eclectic collection, opening with elegant dresses adorned with Indian gold embellishments using silk, and jersey that has a liquid like quality, providing the collection with an eloquent fluidity. The Moroccan inspired silhouettes consisted of floor length dresses with long trains and slits running throughout the collection.

The contemporary side of the collection was evident in the second half. The models wore modern, crisp silhouettes and the handcrafted qualities became even more apparent. Sports wear style garments were incorporated with sharp tailoring and colourful floral prints, giving the collection a modern twist whilst keeping its opulent edge. Golden visors and extravagant headwear kept the initial inspiration running throughout the show.

The collection overall screams sophistication and has a diverse range of garments, whilst also keeping in with Isham’s signature style. A collection that celebrates femininity and beauty.

LFW Hema Kaul SS15 12.09.14

Presenting her SS15 collection ‘La vie en rose – Life is pink’ at Fashion Scout, Hema Kaul returns to LFW with a truly feminine and glamorous collection.

Drawing inspiration from her roots in India and travels to many exotic countries, Kaul uses beautiful fabrics sourced from all over the world to create her sophisticated designs, keeping with her ethos of producing clothing for confident, independent women like herself, who believe in seizing opportunities to achieve success.

The collection showcased stunning outfits, embellished with floral appliqué, intricate detailing and flowery prints. The colour palette was kept neutral with soft creams and whites with hints of pink and also pops of colour in bright aqua and fuchsia tones.

The collection had a youthful and fun feel with short and playful hemlines and cut out detailing whilst also injecting contrast and elegance with evening dresses, full skirts and longer silhouettes. The models supported big hairstyles with a slightly messy look and soft pink lips, which complimented the collection adding to the playful feeling. Kaul used organza with satin and French tulle and lace giving the collection that ultra feminine, understated look and contrasting perfectly with the vibrant accents throughout the collection.

Bug Eyed

Just an update of some work from last term! I previously mentioned the trend forecasting project I had been working on a few months ago and this was the final outcome. I'd created a mixture of different prints incorporating patterns from beetle shells and used a variety of fabrics including leathers, silks, mesh and a few treated denim samples.
The four illustrations are part of a capsule collection designed around the Post Apocalyptic concept while also having a denim based client in mind. From the CAD flats you can see the detailing in the four key garments, the silk dress being one of my favourites!
I enjoyed working on this project and was really pleased with the outcome, hopefully there will be some styling shoots next!

Purple Punch

I recently had my hair dip dyed and this is the outcome! It's since faded and is a lot softer and more of a purple colour which is how I wanted it to turn out. Sitting in the hairdressers chair for 4 hours paid off! It's been about month but the colour has held pretty well, I'm going to try dying it myself to keep the colour so we'll see how that goes!
